CSR- Corporate Social Responsibility, also known as SRB- Sustainable Responsible Business is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. CSR policy and practices would function as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby business would monitor and ensure their adherence to law, ethical standards, and international norms. CSR adds demonstrable value to the business, credibility and goodwill, image building and brand differentiation of the organization. Fundamentally, CSR is the deliberate inclusion of public interest into corporate decision-making, and the honoring of a triple bottom line: People, Planet, and Profit. |

Indian companies are now expected to discharge their stakeholder responsibilities and societal obligations, along with their shareholder-wealth maximization goal. A recent government directive has indicates that all PSUs set aside a percentage of their gross profit for CSR activities. Corporate Social Responsibility is also about companies acting voluntarily and beyond the law to achieve social and environmental objectives during the course of their daily business activities. This makes it increasingly important to use a well-grounded CSR policy framework, community development projects and its implementation with scientific perspective. |
